If you want more photos of any cars that I have posted, please tell me. I have a lot of photos!

Do you have more photos of 000384?

Regards!
paul-NL
All the dividercars, you mentioned, were already in the overview.

I have not more pictures of the Shah's SWB then those two.

espejor
Do you know if the Shah's SWB was an USA version or an European version converted to USA version like the SWB belonged to the Iranian Embassy in Paris?

Regards!
paul-NL
The blue Iranian Embassady car is claerly NO US-car but changed some outer look-signs to US-specs.
The Iran Shah's car seems/looks to be also a US-specs-converted car, but I have no Info yet.
In the auction in 2004 it was claimed to be armoured with 3/52 steel, whatever that should be ??
The car has red leather inside.

espejor
I have a doubt...

Do you know the year of the white SWB that belonged to the Shah? Are you sure that it was owned by the Shah? I guess that maybe this car didn't belong to the Shah, because the Shah hadn't house in USA (the Shah and Empress Farah had "Villa Suvretta" in Saint Moritz only).

Maybe this car belonged to Ashraf Pahlavi (the twin sister of the Shah) who worked in New York as ambassador of Iran in the UN or to Ardeshir Zahedi (the ex-husband of Shahnaz Pahlavi, eldest daughter of the Shah), ambassador of Iran in USA.

Regards!
paul-NL
july or aug 65. That is not white but beige 158 ....
Info came only from the auctionhouse in Califotnia.

The headlights on the car don't belong to that date and are from a later car or retrofitted.

karlschreiner
Paul,

Where did you get the photo of #1365 as it my car, and I never submitted it.
paul-NL
Hi Karl,
I found it on the internet:

Send you the link.
BTW: it is definitly a eurospec-car [:)]
It cost me TWO years of digging [;)]

But I am glad you are reading here. The more enthousiasts the better.
I just read it has only 17 K Km, half as much as mine also unrestaured divider-car 2484 .....

with kindly regards

Hey Paul,

How many SWB Divider cars do you know of have sunroof's in the rear? I heard somewhere that there were only 3, but there has to be more than just 3, at least I would think.

Also, how many SWB divider cars were made total?

Thanks for your help.

First,
the code for the front sunroof is 411
the code for the rear sunroof is 412

Now how many SWB divider cars were made.
According the statistic today we have 20 % of produced cars identified from which 31 SWB with divider.
Statisticly should then a production from about 150 be realistic.

How many were made with sunroof in the backcompartment.
From the listed 31 SWB dividercars there were already 6 listed ....
So three would be a bittle to low [}:)]

numbers 2, 613, 930, 1661, 2344 and mine 2484 ... have code 412
(33, 41, 532, 1643, 2167 and 2384 is unknown)

Here you see the hydraulic switches in my rear door.

from l-r: seatadjustment, window, divider and right the sunroof.
But I don't know if cars with a front sunroof have also a switch in the backdoors.
Chris Johnson
The cars without a divider window do have switches in the back for the sunroof.

Is there such as thing as a car with the divider that has a sunroof in the front?

Hi Chris,

yepp, the blue 1403 for example has a slidingroof in the front.
Chris Johnson
Do you have a data card for this car?

I would consider this to be an anomoly, though, certainly, anything could be ordered.

No Chris,

unfortunatly we have not the datacard but you can see it on its picture on page 1.
Chris Johnson
I can see it, but, in my opinion, something this unusual should be confirmed as having been built that way by the factory.

I have run into some odd 300SEs over the years that were claimed to be original, but closer review debunked some of the claims (but actually confirmed one or two).

Hi Chris,

It is possible not all buyers and MB-dealers in that time knew that code 412 was optional for a SWB ....

And if not "meanly known" it wasn't ordered, or the buyer/owner had no benefit for that extra option....

Who knows all [:)] ..

cakalues
Paul, is it true that only the later SWB divider cars had the microphone mounted to the steering column in order to communicate with passengers when the divider window was up?

Hi Luis,

Of course we have probably catched only one fifth of the divider cars, but the first / youngest from which we now have is 001365 with intercom-option.

I believe that KW-option was always available, but most less SWB were in my opinion constantly driven by a personel chauffeur.
The first owner of my car had a personal driver/chauffeur.

And then the KW-option had only real sence, when on the backseat were hold "real secret conversations". Else the dividerwindow would be dropped for a short conversation with the driver.
But, who realy knows "all ins and outs" from the first buyers ....

I could imagine, that car 384 also would have an intercom, but have no pictures of the interior (yet[:D])
Hope this "gueshing answer" is satisfying.

Paul,

I have heard back from John Freeman. He has been unwell. His SWB divider car is 2167 and you have a picture of it looking rather sad down on its knees. So it is on your list. I just didn't recognize it. I asked him for the VIN's of his 4 cars for you and list them below. He said he would send some pictures when he can. You will have pictures of the pullman as I have posted some before. You probably won't have the white one.

100 012 22 000157 black as I recall - original owner from records I have was "R Irish"
100 014 22 000262 blue - ex Phillip Morris director in Australia
100 012 22 000864 white - ex Tommy Hanlon Jr., an entertainer
100 012 22 002167 blue - ex Perth then Japan

Hello,

here are pics of 600`s with divider: The second pic shows the car of king Moshoushou of Lesotho (Africa) delivered in 1973, the first and the following after the second pic showing a car, which was delivered 1967 to Saudi Arabia without crome at the fenders, the next car was offered some years ago by Gullwing NY and the last was the car of ambassador of Chile in Germany in 1968.

Greetings
Wilfried

paul-NL
Hi Will.

The second picture from the car of king Moshoushou of Lesotho "OA 200" (Africa) is already known. Vin 2194. [:D]

the three other cars are new and needs further investigations.
I think we will that also find (sooner or later) [8D]
The New Yorker car (pict 5+6) must be between 000974 en 000986.
The chilian Ambassador car in Germany (pict 7+8) must be before 001032.
Tha saudi Arabian car must be after 001027.

Thanks for those pictures.

paul-NL
After exchanging some emails with Luis, we discovered now, that the frontseats in a dividercar normaly are standard in leather.

If there is a non-leather-code mentioned in a dividercar-datacard, then that non-leather-upholstery-code is in dividercars only the code for the rearseats.

paul-NL
Found a (per accident) new divider car RHD in South Africa.
I had already a picture of that car,but did not recognise until now, that it was also divider car.
Vin 1948 and pictures is added in the overview on page 1

paul-NL
And two unidentified Dividercars from Switserland / Geneva.

Could be the same car on different locations ..... ???

During my hunting for Vins I stumbled over an advertising:

1964 Mercedes Benz 600
$ 225.000
1964 Mercedes-Benz 600 28865 Miles
Hemmings Motor News - Miami Gardens FL

clicking on the Link and there appears the next text:

MERCEDES-BENZ: 1964 Grand 600, swb, very rare, only 24 made, completely restored, 28,865 miles, partition with refrigerated bar, reclining rear seat, fuel injection 6.3 liter V8, arctic white with maroon interior, offered at $225,000. 305-623-4899, FL. $225,000

Has anybody additional Info for me and a picture ??? because this car is still missing in my database ....

I was talking with John Freeman at the Toowoomba Swap meet on Friday and he tells me has sold his SWB divider car to a new owner in Sydney. I understand that it was also a Hong Kong car when new.

Hi Ian,

Thank you very much for your help.
This car is for sale since a long time (also been in several auctions and in several countries [Switserland, Germany and GB]). It had in the past some square foglights on the bumper. The mountings are still in place on the bumper.

It is the early car with number 27.

Added in the overview no 002312 from Japan (38th identified divider-SWB).
At the moment on Ebay no 280473892259 .
