6.3

So I can get a spare 6.3 motor+trans
Author Last Post
I had time to pull the rocker covers. The shop did a nice job, g-d knows when, protecting the cams with grease, so the upper half the motor is clean. I still have to pull the plugs, squirt in some light oil and see if it turns.

I still have no clue what I am going to do with it. It sure is a lovely sculpture decorating the back of my suburban.  I've been doing a trans swap on a 300ce in slow motion (too much office work) and I brought a used unit to a local transmission shop to get a question answered. The shop owner was very nice to me when he saw the 6.3 and its trans in the back of the truck next to my new-to-me 300CE trans.  We wound up talking for close to an hour and in the end I got an earful on modern trans details and no bill.

she's crated, now to ship it.

So last year, I picked up a nice red 230ce from Al. It's a W123 coupe that needs a little assembly.  My goal was to put one of my spare 6.9s in it. The down side of having spares is finding something to do with them. :)  I was thinking of mega-squirt and the little things that goes with it.

So now this 6.3 drops into my lap. It's condition is unknown.  I was as much interested in saving for the scrap heap as I was thinking in terms of this build. Once it gets here, I have to go over it and ensure all is well, then it's into the W123 it goes.  Unless of course, somebody has a better idea for it.  I am open to suggestion, if somebody wants it for a better project than mine.

I know the shop bought a parts car from the guy
So I found a complete spare engine (#4774) and transmission, no clue why I would want one, but it's mine if I can get it crated.  The fellow has a cherry picker to lift it, but not the where-with-all to do the work himself. The motor has to go this coming weekend, so there's less than a week to figure this out.

Anybody down in Atlanta want the gig?  The shop is just off I85 on the way to Lawrenceville.

The next problem of course is to get it to a place to ship it.

Thx -CTH
