Legends of the Autobahn celebrates 50 Years of AMG
Author Last Post
Thanks to all who displayed automobiles at Legends of the Autobahn. As Jack said, we had a very nice turnout of cars at the event, and the M-100 corral really added some elegance to the show. Petrolicious posted a wonderful gallery of pictures at the link below, with good shots of the 6.3s and the amazing 600.

We will establish this class again in 2018 -- looking forward to having more M-100s!

Thank you again.

The 600 is owned by Rick Niello (my son presented the car); Kip's 1993 500E (he also has a '92) received a 95.5 score in judging. His mechanic Mat, in SoCa, accomplished a masterful job in assembling this 124036 after a complete exterior paint with engine out. Kip found the car deteriorating in the Louisiana elements earlier this year.

We had a great turn out of M-100s. Allen Stephens, MBCA host, made sure we were presented in a semicircle on a small crest of fairway. Beautiful 600 SWB presented by Sutton Morris for Rick Niello, a friend ofMichael, Joe Weinert presented his beautiful 6.9. There were four 6.3s, Finch, Morris, Glusovitch and me. Kip also won his division with a gorgeous 1993 silver 500E. See Michael's note below. Photos and more commentary in next Lode Star.

Shucks. --I looked at the front air bags on the ivory 6.3 Tuesday while prepping it for Monterey --they were dicey but I've seen worse. At the moment, my son has the car heading this way on a flat bed with the front on the ground. Suppose I should have changed them Tuesday.

Tried so hard to complete my construction work load and came up short. That's code for "gotta work this weekend". Please ask around for AMG kits for 6.9's. Hope to see the crew in NY.
So far, I am planning on driving up with the E500E group at 4AM Thurs. It may be that I end up trailering it and if so, will leave later in the day on Thurs. Either way, I have to go up Thurs. I have to be on the field by 7AM to get my car prepped. I'm most likely coming back on Sat.

Kip, are you leaving thur or fri? If it's 4am Friday, I plan on going! Where to meet up? When are you guy returning and where is the crew lodging?
Ok, I'm now registered for the corral. In the middle of registering yesterday, our power went off here, but I managed to get finished today. See you guys there.

Brian --I think today is the last day to register --It would be great to see you and your car.

I didn't think I was going earlier , but I am about 70% going now -- we're not bringing up the E-type this year (driving up 101 in 100 degrees with a car that's not that faithful in the best of circumstances). I will know by Wednesday of this coming week (August 9th), and will try to register for the corral.

I won't do the judged event this year -- I did that at the Legends a few years ago to get a score and get a feeling for how far I might be from a truly "showable" car. Now that I'm over that, the corral is my target.

Life has thrown many curve balls as of late....oddly, I am now 70/30 going.
Just got a call regarding the 600 my son is involved with... Supposedly it will get registered tomorrow. So that is one more --I expected at least something from the SF area.

Brian is on the fence --he normally shows his E type and plans on that this year --can't drive two cars simultaneously.

I wasn't planning on doing much to 3541 -a bath and change the oil; but that has changed. Sub frame mounts, a master level valve, re-visit to the brake strut bushings, get the trunk lid painted, re-visit the a/c --all because some folks have offered to detail the car for Legends (a very gracious gift); & my wife will be driving the car. So that is my weekend planned out. Just finished the master valve and have the car on the rack to swap out the subframe mounts -then the brake struts. Goes to the paint shop Tuesday morning.

Allen, I am registered at Legends for the M-100 Corral.

Yes Allen, please move Gail Morris (my wife). In addition, I did not put myself as her guest -should I, though ordered breakfast & lunch for two.

My son expects his dealership SWB 600 -I will forward Corral info (registered under Neillo?). Kip is on the fence to judge or not judge his 6.3 --but we will drive his car for the 18th. Jack E. will definitely have his 6.3 in the corral --John E. is on the fence with his 6.9 --if I have another driver I may have the brown 6.3 in the corral.

Another member, Booty, I will contact --he is in SF with a 6.3. DO you see this Andrew?

You must be busy, Allen --what a big hat you wear!

Thanks,

Michael
Update: I added a M-100 Corral under 'Corral' registration. As this is a non-judged class, you will be charged the 'Corral' fee of $40, however we will display the M-100s on the show field.

To register:
-Go to https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/mbca-legends-of-autobahn-2017-nicklaus-club-monterey-303264
-On the registration page where you choose Preservation, Corral or Concours, choose 'Corral Parking', and under 'choose clas's you will see an option to select 'Corral Parking for M-100 Group members'

Michael Morris -- I see that Gail Morris registered a 6.3 - is that yours? I can move it to the M-100 corral.

Please let me know if you have questions. We need a few more M-100s to fill out this corral!

Allen --Are you going to add #10 for the M-100 corral? Want to register while it is on my immediate plate.

Thanks, Michael
We plan on leaving around 4am Friday the 18th (Kip's 6.3 and my black 6.3). The dealership my son is involved with owns a SWB 600. That might get driven down --should know more in the next week or so.
