Uneventful day on the road. Slowed down by trucks passing trucks at 65 mph. Agree with John about mpg. These are not EPA compliance cars. Ride is like sitting in a comfortable office chair looking at an interactive video screen. Newport Beach tomorrow to see my son. Home Tuesday.

Sandy and I are back at the lake in Minnesota after an uneventful trip back, running at 75 - 80 most of the way with the AC on. Best mileage was 15 mpg; used a little more than a quart of oil in 3,000+ miles, and lost a bit of coolant due to a loose radiator cap. Didn't come close to overheating in spite of that.

Thanks again to Axel, Albert, Felix and everyone who contributed to another great Meet!
This might turn out to be a dull report. Car is running very well at average about 80 mph. Put in 699 miles today with no incidents. Encountered a roadside forest fire caused by a burning 18 wheeler tire. Fire engines were already there. Weather is great; no more hurricanes. I think there is still flooding in the low lying areas of coastal GA and SC.

Jeez Jack! You really stretched the trip out. [:D] Be safe, no racing on the way home please.

Go Jack, Go!
Well, I'm on the road again. Anthony, you were missed, and, we didn't have a quorum for the Board Meeting. Savannah is a beautiful historic city with an emphasis on preservation more than restoration. We all thank Axel and Albert and S/O's who made it all possible.

Michael and Gail Morris flew home after the meeting. Teri and I visited friends in Athens and then drove to my niece's wedding near Greenville, SC. Yes, we encountered the periphery of Hurricane Joaquin. You have all read about the flooding in Georgia and the Carolinas. We really didn't have to drive in it but it put the wedding party on edge. The wedding was not held outdoors as scheduled but the clouds broke and the sun appeared for the ceremony.

I stopped in Atlanta to have my drive shaft balanced at a specialty shop and then visited David Latham of Bud's Benz just to the west of Atlanta. While at his facility, I had the front brake hoses replaced to correct a slight pull to the right on heavy braking. In addition to a few 190SLs and a lot of W113 cars, the shop has several customer 6.3s in for various levels of repair and restoration. David was unable to attend our event in Savannah.

I will post along the way to California. Car's running well if a little lean which only effects startup a bit. We are trying to improve gas mileage. It is not working

Is the dinner cruise still the only meal paid for with our registration as noted in the Itinerary flyer? I see that we state lunches for Friday and Saturday and just wanted to know if those were set any place in particular, paid for or not.

I contacted Peter Lesler, a former President of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America in regards to posting news of our event on the MBCA website. Perhaps some of the area members would be interested in our special and prestigious meet, and viewing our beautiful automobiles!

Axel is making a final schedule as we speak and we will publish that as soon as he gets that done, hopefully in the next few days.

He has a 600 to take to Savannah and so will I, so there will be at least two 600's there.

Friendly reminder about the hotel bookings:

In 3 days time the special rates the club has secured at the River Street Inn will no longer be available, SO PLEASE book your hotel rooms now to make sure you get the special club rate.

I just made mine today

There must be a dealership near the meet that requires a face to face Mercedes-Benz of North America Classic Parts Representative's visit to establish/strengthen a foot-hold on the east coast for the sale and distribution of said parts. Thomas, I think you are the guy that should make that visit with your out-going gregarious manner not to mention the well informed knowledge that you carry around in your head --best man for the job. --by the way, while you are out there, you might want to join us at the meet.[:D]

Sorry to hear that, Tom. You will be missed. I enjoyed meeting your co-worker, Woody, in Bethlehem in June.

I can't come this year. I'll be on vacation in September. Can't miss more work than that.[V]

As of July 31, 2015, the total of paid registrations is 25. Most are couples who are driving M-100 cars! Great event.
