WORRY NOT ABOUT FUTURE VALUE LADS...LET'S ENJOY THE MOMENT. [8D]

It could be worse. You could be hooked on yachts or race horses if you are concerned about bottomless pits.!

I reckon most of us bought our 6.9's at the right price so if we break even or make a few bux come the time of resale, it's a better investment proposition than 8 out of 10 modern cars.

It's a weird phenomenon that pedestrian agricultural so called muscle cars which have no more interesting provenence than the evolution of the 6.9 are worth so much more...........indifferent build quality..mass produced.....live rear axle...leaf springs.. cast iron push rod boat anchors draped in vinyl and plastic.
At the technical /spec level there is no comparison....yet?...why is it so?

I think part of the appeal is of course "youth image"..."racing performance heritage" and if everyone is honest....they are dead simple to fix and enhance.
By the way, I'm still hanging out for my 69 GTO........have come close to buying a Vette and just adore the lines of the 68/69 Riviera......sometimes a brisket just appeals when Chateau briand is simply too expensive and time consuming.!
I sort of hoped the 6.3 mojo will pass to the 6.9 but it has not happened and I now am losing hope that it will ever get it's day in the sun.

I have said before that 70's cars are in a value dead zone, especially late 70's, and this is right where the 6.9 finds itself. Garage queen, ultra low miles will continue to get passed from one silly money collector to the next, not get driven etc.
Anything else I fear is going to languish.

Add Uber, electric cars etc, I'm afraid that "niche" internal combustion cars like a 6.9 is pretty much doomed[xx(]

That BAT car has serious signs of neglect ( look at that engine compartment ). That car is only worth $9K on a good day. It's redeeming quality is low miles and ok cosmetics. To me, the value of these cars is the drivability. After 200+ hours of wrench time, I can not wait to get in my 6.9 and float on down the highway...knowing that a lean on the throttle puts all my problems in the rearview mirror. Tell me what millennial couldn't appreciate that experience.
Guys, a little doom and gloom on the values. I see a scenario where the 6.3 and 6.9 increase ( however slowly). The millennials are at a all time high with auto loan defaults. The demand for stallion type vehicles will always be there...it's a matter of evolution.
Yep, I'm still hoping our cars jump now that they are in that 40+ year old range. But it's not looking good. My two collector Mercedes are backwards as far as what I needed. My 6.9 only has 65k miles and I had it in near perfect condition before I sort of poorly garaged it 20years ago. My other car is pretty much the worst condition 1963 190SL that you'll ever see. It really should just be considered a parts car, but all the parts are rusted. I'd still bet I could sell it for more than my 6.9.
I was born in the 80s and would love to own a M100 car, but I'm just not willing to spend several thousands a year to keep them moving. In the case of the 600, tens of thousands. I can swing the buy-in, but I can't justify the yearly costs even if it sat in my garage under a cover 45 weeks a year.

I can't say I'm surprised, honestly. I suspect that we're going to see prices on 6.3 and 6.9's continue to drop over the next few years, as baby boomers start to reach an age where more and more of them can't drive, and they, or their children, put car collections up for sale. Gen X and Millennial's don't seem to be as into the 70's cars much at all, unless it's an American muscle car. With my generation much preferring the weird cars of the 80's to stuff from the 70's.*

On the upside, I'm optimistic that this will finally bring a large number of American Muscle Cars back to realistic price points.

*This is all written from the perspective of an American who has zero clue what international car sales/scenes are like.

600s tend to do very well on Bring a Trailer.
