Manuals are invaluable resource to work on W116.
just spotted these for sale for a very reasonable price

short course: open sunroof half way, separate leading edge of headliner from roof and pull out and up to remove. there is a horizontal screw on each side of the sunroof, loosen each and you can then lift the entire roof out. you may have to remove the small clip on the front of the drive cable at some point.

Just opened my sunroof and found rust. I have known that the rubber was old but it looks like the drain passages are clogged as well. Even one of the wind deflector struts has broken away from the track area. Has anyone tackled this task?
