I have those pumps available at about half price when compared with the Mercedes exchange unit. Twelve months unconditional warranty with just the one failure in twenty years. The one in my Gleaming Beauty is still serviceable after replacement twenty years ago. Regards. Styria

Unfortunately I have already ordered the eBay pump and it is on its way. The cost including freight to Australia was US$ 680. As a matter of interest how much is genuine MB one? Regards Mark.

Hello all, and Happy New Year!
My two cents on water pumps for the 6.9:
When I bought my 6.9, the previous owner had recently replaced the water pump with a rebuild from e-bay. However, within a year of the replacement, it began to fail. Really nice noise! Thankfully, no damage to the motor, everything made it OK.
I called Tom at the Classic Center, and was shocked by the price for a factory rebuild. Nonetheless, given the previous pump's history, I went ahead and spent the money. When the pump arrived I suddenly understood the cost; the thing is massive!
I replaced the water pump well over two years ago. The car runs cooler than it did with the old one in hot weather, and there has been nary a hint of an issue with the factory rebuild. For my money, spend the extra, and go with the genuine MB rebuilt part.
Just a suggestion... You can take it or leave it...

6.9 water pump. I have noticed remanufactured water pumps for the 6.9 advertised on ebay. Does anybody know what the quality is like?
