Location-Based recommendations - MFIS svc/rebuild
Author Last Post
Just got off the phone with Robert Fairchild *http://www.fuelinjectioncenter.com/index.htm) and I'm happy to report that he escaped the horror of the Northern California wildfires. I had been concerned because the website had been down during the peak of the fires. Robert reports all is well with an extensive backlog of work.

Francis,
if you have a information about a John Deere Serie which used our pumps, than you can check here:

Has anyone heard that John Deere (US based tractor / agriculture equipment) company used these same pumps and can rebuild them?

I also have been recommended to Hans at H and R injection located in NY.
As for recommendations, this past week we installed a 6.3 pump calibrated by Robert @ Jerry Fairchild Industries here in Calif -settings are spot on. Some of you may recall Robert Fairchild gave us a very informative presentation on injection pumps during the 2013 Lode Fest.

They do, but most don't want to because they have to use different flow specs to set it up and it is not worth their while.

I wonder if companies that rebuild diesel injection pumps can work on these. It seems similar in principle.

With best regards

Al

Many folks here speak very highly of Hans at:
H & R Fuel Injection Ltd, in Bohemia NY. Seems to be the guru on these, though I am sure there are a few experts on this issue.

There is NOTHING wrong with that recommendation.

Those FIP are basicly the same. If they have the right specifications and the equipment, the pump should be returned correct with the correct settings.
Hi everyone,

I thought it might be pertinent to create an individual thread with up-to-date information about MFIS servicing and rebuilders which is location based.

Given that these are horrendously espensive and finicky things to service and overhaul, It would be great if M100 owners could respond with their recommendation on preferred workshop / rebuild specialist.

Recently there was a Farcebook thread on our ozbenz group where someone asked for recommendations and subsequently has taken their MFIS to a local diesel injection service for work - I do not know how this is going to pan out - but I'm sceptical to say the least.

Not only that, but I have concerns the pump will be returned worse than when it was delivered. I also have a slightly acidic view towards those who profess to know what's involved, when they have no idea and make a blind recommendation for a service which they have no idea about what is involved.

My next concern is the poor bugger who's taken his MFIS to the diesel place, is going to geta huge bill and the units going to be stuffed. then he's going to have to fork out again for it to be done properly.

Now bear in mind, that not everyone has experience or expertise in these things - in fact the knowledge pool is shrinking dramatically - so if you do know an expert, have used their services and can speak for the quality of their work, then it'd be a great thing to help a fellow m100 owner out - don't you think?

At least it could save them from a potential disaster.

I know Ron B saw the FB post in question, because I tagged him - I can't help but want to strangle the other people who posted in that thread who have NFI what they are talking about - and I'm sure Ron's probably just biding his time, waiting for the call... even though he's already doled out the information...

This is one of the reasons I really hate it when people go off the blind advice and trust social media, instead of doing their research on fora.

So, If you have a trusted service source, for the sake of others who may need it in future, please list them, their contact details and country/state so people can look for a convenient closeby professional service.

I hope those who care to look beyond farcebook find this and learn to look beyond a blue box with a big F in it.

regards,
Joe
