6.9 (Euro?) Engine for Sale
Author Last Post
@Greazzer.

That motornumber is 100.985-12-003314 and has NO relation to the Vin ... In my database for the registery does that motornumber not show up .

The other mentioned numbers are imho just partsnumbers …

I would suggest to clean it up nice and mount it on a stand in your man cave. Then at least you'll have a conversation piece if the missus does not whine too much about it[:D]

I have listed this a few times on eBay. I believe the engine came from this car: VIN WDB 116 036 12 003314 Does anyone have a way to check on this VIN? I struck out looking for over an hour.

Also, the heads are stamped as follows:

On the passenger side: 100 016 2901

On the driver side: R 100 016 28 01

I sold a few months ago an OM616 engine with auto tranny. Those are a "dime a dozen" from a W123 240D. Numerous folks lined up with their $1,000 in hand and it was an easy sell. It's interesting from my limited experience that this M100 engine from the 6.9 cannot easily sell for a little bit over that yet the differences between the OM616 engine vs. this beast are massive.

Do you want to post the link to the engine? I want to watch the auction.

Well ... I am thinking ebay is no better than CL in some regards. Total scammer .... never paid. Wanted my PP info then disappeared. I gave him an email address but that's it. So, I lost my promotional sales deal on ebay, but it's relisted now. Someone did ping me about the heads. I am thinking about that BUT gonna make sure I get paid in advance before tearing the engine apart although that is my absolute last resort. I would probably keep it before parting the engine out. Just little time for projects. Not sure what makes the scammers tick ...
Unless the pricing went banana-rama, a car with all the fees was under $1500 so my guess and just a guess is in the ballpark of 1/4th of that. I’m willing to drive it to Charleston which is around two hours from me if I’m paid $100 bucks which is pretty cheap for a 250 mile round trip hauling 700 pounds with delivery to the shipping yards. I opened an eBay “no pay” case which I’m guessing will be fruitless and a joke. I already offered the buyer I would store the engine until he got his ducks in a row but just please pay. Crickets after that message and that’s pushing two weeks now. . I’m thinking back to square one shortly.
Simply put it's a numbers game. You can pick up a whole parts car 6.9 for what some folks try and flog a motor here for. Unless you have a new crate motor and planning on doing a frame off resto there is little demand. These motors are hella tough so usually it's the last thing on the list if you plan on resurrecting an old 6.9.

If this engine was in Oz,I would snap it up as prices are higher here. For me to purchase from the states the price is much too high after the transporters are paid and the shipping company with there high prices. Not to mention quarantine and inspection when it arrives in Oz.Cannot understand why USA folk do not purchase it for spare parts etc.
its tough selling these engines, i have one that i have attempted to sell on ebay but no dice, i decided to keep for the grand kids, maybe in 25 years it will be worth something
BTW, what does it cost to ship an engine to Europe these days?

Heck no. Craigslist was a mess with a handful of kooks responding. eBay hasn’t been so hot thus far. Lol
Hopefully you haven't shipped the motor yet?

I'm sad to hear it sold (since I was still harboring dreams of buying it some day), but glad you found a buyer, and hope it isn't a scammer. Keep us up to date on how it goes. :)

Well, it sold on eBay ! Waiting to get paid. Buyer is from Germany. Hope it's not a mistake or some sort of scamer. Fingers crossed.
Right now the heat and humidity is my biggest hurdle. Each day is pushing 100F and with the humidity, the heat index is rough. Columbia, S.C. is a screen door to hell in the summers. After around two hours in the early AM, I am literally soaked.
