Progress on the bodywork. Always interesting to see what shows up under the paint....

Since i bought the 600 SWB i august it has been under restoration and moved twice because of a (former) friend not living up to a deal on storage facilties. I finally found my own place with plenty of room for restoration.

I have now finished a complete hydraulic, suspension and brake restoration - including all components in the engine room. There are many hydraulic connections throughout the car and they have ALL been renewed.

Tank has been split, blasted, straightened and coatet inside out.

I have left the engine, injection and transmission untouched. Injector nozzles has been cleaned and ALL hoses on the car - some more than 50 years old and rock hard or brittle.

So far, so good. Tuesday I fired the engine and everything came alive. Hydraulics and air works and the car lifted of the emergency kit front and rear. A few small leaks had to be tightened.

Engine idles great and rews happily. It will need some adjusting sine ide looks rich.

One of the two alternators turned on the light at idle. It has been removed and will be tested. Even if they are new it could be a bad unit.....

The car has been cleaned out. So no interior, ventilation or airflaps in front of the windshield.

I am now waiting for some dry weather for a test drive with only drivers seat installed.

Next step will be som rust repair and after that paint and interioer.

There is still a lot of work and parts that needs restoration, but it a big thing to have the car back on wheels and running.

There has been a few sleepless nights.....

A small update - hydraulics.

When I first added hydraulic fluid and started the engine all four doors where leaking fluid like crazy.

I have started the process of changing every single o-ring (square) and support bushing.

It’s amazing to see how things are done. Found Teflon tape, 3 x o-rings and even silicone on some of the blocks.......

Having some leaking parts blocked off the system actually held pressure for 24 hours being able to move seats, one window and fresh air vent several times.

My favorite line in that description is "complete except interior."

Good luck.

Hi.

Just bought a beat up 1964 600 SWB.

Car was imported from the US in the 80's and someone startet working on the car and parts were lost.

Needs a lot of work. The car has been sitting for more or less 30 years. Complete except interior. A lot of parts missing.

Wood around doors plus a few other pieces.

Door panels and bottom rear seat cushion.

All carpet and other pieces related to carpet covering footwell and so on.

Brakes, hydraulic and air suspension needs help.

Engine is running - BUT - needs a serous service.

A few rust spots but otherwise ok.

Complete paint job. Seems like the different paint types doesn't go together and big flakes are conning of.

It #99
Dark Blue on Black. Might have been saddle interior. No divider.

Greetings from
Denmark.
