I tried to buy a twin turbo 6.9 with a torqflite about a decade ago bt could not get an agreement to the seller. I guess it's doable. The kid that does some side work for me mated a 722.6 his 300TD and also did it on a W126 350SDL. The transmission will require a stand alone controller which is available. An adaptor plate will also be required to make it work with the earlier style bell housing bolt pattern. The Mercedes Benz 722.6 is a seriously strong transmission.

Has anyone ever done a transmission swap on an SEL 6.9..the Dodge and Chrysler transmissions are really strong... coming from behind hemi motors etc...and some of these boxes have an over drive of about 1:85 or 1:75 [roughly] .....the boxes would make a great add on to the 6.9 and DROP fuel consumption RIGHT DOWN...on long trips....be interested to hear some views on this..6059..

Anybody know of any other really strong gearboxes that have an overdrive..??..and that would suit the 6.9..making an adapter plate is not that difficult..seems finding the right gearbox is..
