Author Last Post
Aaron,

Did you have these seals made?
Hi Aaron I'll take a pair.

Cheers
Martin

Ok fellas. The rear door quarter window seals are ready to be made, sold, and distributed. I need a rough count on who/how many want a pair. And Tom Hansen, do you have any idea as to how many peopls you know that want a pair, or how many pairs the Classic Center would want?
to S-Class in South Africa, I still have one left valve cover gasket in stock. Only one.

Ron, we already have the boots for the intake air temperature sensor and possibly the coolant temperature sensor. I'm still trying to determine of the CTS had the same boot as the IATS. I'm thinking they weren't the same since one is round and the other is rectangular.
I'm interested in Djet boots too ,injector,TPS,MAP etc boots are all needed.

What the heck, try to stuff a MB 6.9 liter V8 in it. What a machine that would be..

S-Class, yes, the prices are absurd, AND the boots are no longer the original style. They send you a boot that looks nothing like the original.
I would be interested in the d-jet plug boots. Many of them are still available from MB (well at least that was the case last time I ordered in late 2016), but the prices were absurd.

Chris, if they were around $100 in the late 1980's, then by using inflation calculator, they'd roughly cost $209 now in 2017. Based on that, I don't think $130-$140 for a new one would be unreasonable.

I'm also having reproduction rubber boots made for the D-Jetronic W108/W109, W116, and R-107 cars. These will include the rubber boots for all the electrical plugs.....injectors, MPS, throttle potentiomoeter, cold starting valve, intake air temperature sensor, pulse generator points, coolant temperature sensor, and the big one for the ECU (W108/W109 cars only).

I found out yesterday that the rubber boot for the thermo time switches on the 6.3 is no longer available. Since I still have a new one, I'm going to have some of those made, too.

In addition, I'm also having reproductions made of the plastic liners that lie at the edges of the trunk where the tail light wire harnesses run underneath of. I realize that there were metal and plastic ones, and that the early cars would have had metal ones, but the metal ones usually survive the test of time. The plastic ones don't, so it's the plastic ones that will be reproduced.

Everything that is being reproduced will be exact....meaning all the numbers, letters etc.

I also need to have some 6.9 valve cover gaskets made. Do any of you have some old ones that are in tact that I can replicate?
Aaron, that's probably not that far off what the original price from MB would be if they were still available. I seem to remember them being around $100US back in late 80's.

Chris
Update. Molds are currently being made and tooling set up for the rear quarter window seals. Should be a couple of months from now before they're available. FYI, the price for each seal will be around $130, so don't be upset about it. Having molds and tooling set up is horridly expensive.
AG, my commentary still holds. I get no responses via email, and no one ever answers the phone or returns a voice mail. The seals in question I still cannot find on the website, either.

I can't imagine they have. Otherwise there wouldn't be such a demand. Also, we have no way of knowing for sure, as they don't list any parts on their website. Sending messages only results in no response, so I can't imagine they're too serious about selling anything.

I've been doing business with Andreas for more than 13 years. Call him. If you don't speak German, not to worry, he speaks perfect English. He has many items not listed on the site, but he does list the 1/4 window seals w/o pricing.

I remember back in the summer of 1989, my 69 280SE was broken into in Manhattan while I was eating dinner after seeing Phantom of the Opera. They got into the car by breaking the right rear quarter glass, they also tore the rubber seal when they pried the glass out. I remember back in those days when I thought it was ridiculous that the glass from MB was only around $50 and the rubber seal was around $150. I ended up getting a used glass and rubber from a place up in Irvington, NY, called Autobahn Recycling, IIRC. Anyone remember them? Funny how this discussion triggered my long term memory...I have had this Mercedes disease a long time I guess.

Chris

Oeps, I have understood it completly wrong, sorry guys ...
Confusion reigns. Not sure why Nick put "light" in his description. I just call it the rear quarter window. As Aaron said, for reasons that they have not shared, M-B continue to supply all or most of the rubber seals for the 108/9, but stopped supplying this particular rubber about 10 years ago. It is part 56 in the attached Table 37
Nick's part numbers are/were correct.

I believe Andreas Reinacher at www.dbdepot.de has them.

He also has new replacement vacuum actuator diaphragms (both sizes)

When they pass the fitment tests with flying colors I certainly will. :)
