Lode Fest 2017 Rhinebeck New York
Author Last Post
Reflecting on this last trip to Rhinebeck ( also attended PUB 2017 in Virginia), my workaholic life style is starting to make sense. Additionally, the older I get, the less people I like. It's a great thing that my Mercedes car groups have reversed that trend.....Thanks!
.
Since my return, on several occasions, I have been asked "How was New York?" "Fantastic!" said I. Chris and Monique, Betsy, Casey & Mat with an honorable mention to Clayton from San Diego (who jumped in with a helping hand where ever needed) has set the M-100 Lode Fest bar higher with the fabulous tour of Olana (Frederic Edwin Church Estate/Museum), Wilderstein Mansion, the drives overlooking the Hudson, the dinners, not to mention a very well done sit-down dinner for 30 at 'Mansakenning'.

As Jack said, "a great social weekend". These meets just get better.

Totally agree with comments by Henry and Nick. We had great weather for the driving tours. The program on preparing a long standing car without damaging the various systems further was really valuable. Many thanks to speaker, Michael Morris. Great social weekend. Many thanks to Monique and Chris. Great job.

I second Henry. Thank you Monique & Chris (photo below) for a 1st rate gathering. All of us
are grateful to both of you and your friends and the kind people of Rhinebeck for making us feel at home. And to the young people that helped I would like to say that they are some of the finest young adults I have meet; our future is secure. Also a special mention to the apple strudel like desert and the "grits", they are still in my dreams. Nick

Having returned from the event let me take the time to thank Chris and Monique for the wonderful job they did planning and hosting and especially to Monique for her history tour and knowledge of the area and the great job she did in what must have felt like herding cats.

Thanks to Mike Morris for the informative attempt to resurrect Chris's sleeping 6.3 project. Watching everyone around the engine bay trying to figure out why the car wouldn't start was like watching a surgical team performing heart surgery.

Thanks to Karl and Neil for they're expertise.

I have to say considering last years turnout of 600's to the west coast and the fact of how many 600's are on the east coast, I was disappointed in the turnout.

Just received notice yesterday (construction delay) that I am now open for this weekend. I booked my flight today and arrive Friday 10am at SWF (Newburgh). Hope to catch up in Rhinebeck....at least for dinner. Is there a train or bus line there?

Jack is driving cross country at the moment --east of Chicago somewhere.

As Art replied, Chris is your only contact at this late date.

Chris Lipscomb christopher.lipscomb@sysflow.com is running the event.

Is there anyone who is in charge of Lodefest 2017? I have emailed Mr. English with no response. I would like to attend but have questions? Would someone please email or call/text me. 610-972-9694.

Thank you for your help.
Jeff
If I am back in Connecticut that weekend I would love to attend the Concours. However, I will not have my 600 with me as it is in San Francisco. I will endeavour to at least show up with a Benz.

2013 Range Rover Supercharged
2015 Mercedes S550 4Matic
2015 Volkswagen Golf R

Albany Int'l Airport (ALB) is also 50mins drive, and Stewart Int'l. (SWF) is about 35mins. Boston is 3hrs by car.
There is also frequent Amtrak service from NY Penn Station to Rhinecliff (RHI) or Metro North from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie. Just let us know in advance and someone will come fetch you.

Cheers,
Chris

Anyone else considering such a path, or have recommendations on an airport to fly into? I haven't been to the East Coast before.

The nearest bigish airport is Hartford CT. The easiest NYC area airport traffic wise is probably Newark.
So, I got approval to take the weekend off for this event. Thinking of booking out several days off and flying into an airport other than New York (Boston, perhaps?), and driving to the event. Anyone else considering such a path, or have recommendations on an airport to fly into? I haven't been to the East Coast before.

There are facilities planned for hands-on technical sessions throughout the day Saturday, including some lift access. These will be fine-tuned nearer the date to reflect attendee interests. There will even be a dyno on hand for those brave enough to want to verify the cardio health of their chariot...

So far there promises to be a good mix of USA and Euro M-100 engined cars present: 600's, 6.3's and 6.9's, several unusual examples, including turbo and supercharged, as well as a sub-10k mile 6.9 and Briggs Cunningham's favorite daily driver.

Chris.
Registrations are coming in painfully slowly with only a month to go. Check with the hotel for availability of reservations. Karl and Ruth Middelhauve are bringing a SWB 600 with Tremec 6 speed and turbocharger. Gotta see this!

Are there any "technical" events scheduled? I see a concours but cannot find additional tech stuff. Sounds like a wonderful long weekend but with only a concours I'm on the fence.
