25th ANNIVERSARY of M-100 Group Recognized by MB
Author Last Post
John, I am delighted that you, one of our founders, had the opportunity to accept this award. Our organization is thriving under the direction of president Francis Abate and a very capable Board of Directors. The number of units of our M-100 vehicles, 600, 6.3 and 6.9, is small but the significance of these unique vehicles is great. We are the stewards of these few automobiles who are responsible for there preservation for posterity. Thank you.

That is terrific John --even more so that you were in Germany to represent 'The Group'. Thanks from all of us[8D]

At M-100 President Abate's invitation I attending an October gathering of 61 club representatives (mostly club presidents) officially recognized by Mercedes-Benz, at the MB Museum in Germany. As one of the earliest M-100 Group members I was particularly gratified to receive, for our club, a large, framed 25th Anniversary Certificate, which reads in part "presented to The International M-100 Group in recognition of its long-standing service to the Mercedes-Benz brand. We ... look forward to many more years of friendship and cooperation." I will attempt to enclose a photo of this Certificate with this posting. I will also forward a photo of it suitable for our Website Home-Page.

Successor Planning It is only though a succession of time donated by members that M-100 has enjoyed its VERY impressive annual gatherings, (one with 29 Grand Mercedes 600s in one year!), this VERY international website, tech tips and first-rate semi-annual LODE STAR magazine. Not bad for our highly special, low-production cars!

Who will be the next generation of M-100 Group Leaders? We've prospered because new people have felt welcome and their time appreciated. With the wonderful internet world geography is incidental. For example we've always had great representation from Australia, and have had members from every continent in the world.

If it is encouragement to any readers not yet helping, I'll end with the testimonial that my car hobby experience has been greatly enriched by reaching into many parts of hobby from attending every imaginable type of car event, rallies, concours, tours, restoration, to club newsletter editor, and membership on club boards. Not an inordinate amount of time individually, but over the decades, some great experiences and memories. Try it.
