Proper steering wheel
Author Last Post
Ok Paul, you have called me out. With a tutorial like that I HAVE to figure it out now. Thanks for taking the time, it is appreciated. This evening's project.

Anthony

Put your mousefinger on the file you want to open.
Then click on the right mousebutton and a rollmenu will appear.
Scroll down till you find "open with" and go with the mousefinger on it.
Then a submenu will appear with the possibility "paint" and click on it.

In the top you should find a choise for "resizing" and click on it

now there is a menu to resize in percentage or in pixels and choose one of them.

depending the seize of the picture you reduce the Original to an endseize of max 100 Kb, which is slightly greater as the old limit

Then store the picture under a NEW name, so the old picture won't be overwritten and get lost ...

To post pictures is under your postingfield a paperclip for inserting / uploading a picture

succes ...
Paul,
I need to order some parts from the classic center and will request the data card then. In addition I have spent many hours attempting to post pictures to the board. I am sure I can figure it out eventually by studying the relavent posts here I fully confess to being somewhat of a techno moron. I read somewhere here that "paint" can be used to reduce size of file. I plan to try that next. It would be great to share visually as well.

When you send me a copy of the datacard, we will tell you exactly how your car left the factory.
There is absolutely no question you gentlemen know far more about these cars than I do and I accept your responses as fact. I based my assumption on several pictures I have seen of 6.3's that have a later Mercedes wheel. It is very different than the one shown and can not be confused with the proper one you have pictured. There is a another 6.3 here in Naples that is owned by a gentleman that runs a used Mercedes dealership. It is a very late model and has this different wheel installed. I just assumed it was factory. That, along with several other pictures I have seen with the incorrect wheel installed led me to believe there were two types of wheels, an early and very late type.
In any case thanks again for sharing your knowledge. I am pleased to find out the steering wheel you pictured is correct as it is far more handsome than the incorrect wheel I have seen installed on other 6.3's.

correct Art.

When the factory had mounted also a different second type of steeringwheel, then it should be mentioned in the partsbook from the 6.3 .... (at least in a footnote).
I have never seen such a second type of steeringwheel in the partsbook ... nor a footnote.

Because the EPC on my old CD can't be installed in the new windowsversion I am not able to check.

Although many owners think the later steeringwheels from a W107 or W116 were in their car mounted in the factory , there is imho not any proof for their claims to find.

I am yet to be convinced that any wheel other than the one shown by Paul was ever fitted at the factory to a 6.3, so I disagree with your primary statement. That does not mean that you are wrong, it just means that I have never seen any evidence.
Art
P.S. With the exception of Karl Wilfurt's car.

You need to look for this steeringwheel:

or in Ivory:

when you have an US-car the hornring should be "silver" and not "chromed".
You can also use those from any W108 or W109 later model.
I know there are at least two, possibly more, models of steering wheel used on the 6.3. My car came equipped with an aftermarket wheel installed. I like the current wheel well enough but in the interest of originality would like to keep an eye out for the correct wheel. My car is #4618 a 1971 USA model.
Hoping it's the nice dainty Art Deco one not the big ugly plastic thing.

Thanks,
Anthony
