Our traveling band of vagabonds made it to Grant's Pass yesterday evening. Jim's favorite restaurant was a hit. The food was excellent! We're at the Weasku Inn lodge that's right on the Rogue River. I'm enjoying a cup of strong coffee as I sit on the deck overlooking the river. Thanks Jim for arranging this for us!!!
Off to Portland later this morning. Wait till you guys see John's 300 SE. Man is it nice!

Michael,

No problem at all. Sorry to hear it. Things do happen, especially with classic cars. Why not make it a foursome in the car you'll be driving? Just a thought...

In any case, I'll wait until the last minute to change the dinner reservations. I know the owner well, and it won't matter to him.

Have a good drive, all. See you soon!

Regards,
Jim

Best laid plans of mice and men --Jim, I have to cancel dinner reservations for Gail & Lovelle. We have a problem with the car they were going to drive --up in the air at the moment. I just cancelled the reservations at Weasku.

Regrets and thank you for setting this up,
--Michael
Dinner Wednesday evening on the way to Portland...

I will stop by the Weasku Inn about quarter to seven, and lead everyone to the Italian deli I mentioned earlier. If, for some reason, there is a straggler, the place is called Paisano's, and is located in the City of Rogue River, in the Rays's shopping center. Right turn off of Exit 48, go to the stop sign at the end, turn right, go to the shopping center on the right (a couple of blocks) and Paisano's is in the middle.

See you tomorrow evening!

Regards,
Jim

For those staying at Weasku Inn, here are some simple directions...

I5 North to exit 48, City of Rogue River. At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn left, go under the freeway, cross the bridge ("Over the River and Through the Woods" comes to mind), and turn right at the stop sign onto Rogue River Highway (Hwy. 99).

A word of caution from a longtime resident: Stop at that stop sign completely. The local gendarmes love to create revenue from those who prefer "rolling stops." You've been warned...

OK, once on Rogue River Highway, head about 3.5 miles down the road, and you'll see the Weasku Inn on the right.

If anybody needs anything, gets lost, etc. you can call me on my mobile at (541) two, two, six, six, one, zero, one.

See you soon!

Best Regards,
Jim

Jim: I am hoping John Olson and Kip Finch worked this out. Both seemed agreeable.

Mike,

Glad to hear things are coming together! Looking forward to seeing the results.

Jack,

Let me know if I need to help with lodging arrangements, otherwise I'll assume all is set.

All,

Since no one has filed an objection to Italian, I've made the reservation. They have gluten-free pasta, by the way, if that's an issue for anybody...

Guess I'd better get cracking on detailing the beast! No rest for the wicked...

See you all soon!

Best Regards,
Jim

Black car is ready --Gail will use it today for her errands -hopefully she will come back with a smile on her face and no complaints. I'll start re-assembling the interior on the ivory car; the exterior trim is complete and we put a good?/used LF air valve in it last night --the car was still in the air when I came in this morning. --two days to go!

Good Morning, Jim: I have shared Kip's contact information with John Olson in case they might work something out.

Jack,

I'll look forward to hearing from John. Don't know if Weasku has any more rooms, but one never knows at this time of year. In any case, I'll add one more to the reservation.

For the group,

I'm checking into a small Italian deli with limited room and excellent food. If they have room, how does dinner there sound? Mostly local, mostly organic, and very, very tasty... Let me know if this doesn't work...

mpm,

Hope you get it all together. I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labors!

Regards to all...

Jim

Still in the assembly process of the black and ivory 6.3s. I realized that I cannot really assemble both cars at the same time -try as I might, so I'm concentrating on the black car. This morning (Sunday the 21st.), completing the replacement of the rear brake caliper brake strut nylon bearings. I'm on the short list now -yesterday the valves got adjusted, cold start valve wiring/relays were corrected as well as tuning and spark plugs. Still have to charge the air, install a radio and speakers --that should about do it.
Hopefully this afternoon I'll get on the interior of the ivory car -still have to fit (as best as my skill level will allow) the headliner. I have it installed with new front & rear window seals but need to fit it around the door frames. Then seats, speedometer, radio, etc. Sutton installed exterior door handles and grill last night --and a brake booster -still have to do that--.

Anyway --Wednesday is getting close --see you all then.

Jim: I met John Olson yesterday at Legends of the Autobahn. He will be attending the Lode Fest. John wants to join us on Wednesday at Walnut Grove, travel with us to Grants Pass, Oregon, join us for dinner and stay the night at the Inn. I have shared your information so John can contact you directly about the particulars.

Jim - Thank you for setting this up! I had the pleasure of meeting Jack yesterday at Legends of the Autobahn. He was one of the judges. If you guys have never been and are able to make it, it's an amazing event with a drool factor of 10. There are cars there that you will probably never see on the road.

Jack & all...

OK. Absent other comments to the contrary, here's the plan:

7:00 PM, reservation for five from California, plus two from here (Kirsten and me), a total of seven.

Seven at seven. Sounds poetic! [:)]

If that doesn't work for someone, speak up, and we'll adjust!

Thanks, looking forward to a fun time!

Jim

Jim, I would be ready for dinner about 7:00. We should have enough time to get there by then. Any other thoughts?

Jack English
300SEL 6.3 #4768
All righty, then...

So, what's the consensus? Dinner at 7, 7:30 or a different time?

Once everyone agrees, I'll make the reservations. The good thing is that if it gets a bit later, it should be no problem shifting the time to fit.

Let me know, and I'll get on it!

Best Regards,
Jim

If the Good Lord is willing and the creek don't rize, about 11:30 in the before noon. I think we can make Gants Pass by 7:00 or even earlier.

Not to belabor the point, but when does Jack get to Walnut Grove?

Jack is ready to leave Walnut Grove when he gets there, providing the others are also ready.

I'll defer this to Jack -the cars leave WG when Jack is ready and thus the clock starts.
