Cleaning and Detailing

So, Your Engine Is a Tad Messy
Author Last Post
Very often you see very shining waterhoses unther the bonnet on cleaned motors. They often use coktailsprays for that .....

But if you want a clean and NOT shining waterhose, then wipe your waterhoses of with a little ATF and a dook. They will look as new without (that false) shining ...
With stock 600 or 6.3s spraying on Simple Green (SG) on the entire engine works for us. I do it with an engine that was ran but is now at least over 100 F and lower than 140 F. This is only because the Simple Green dries a little to fast, while working better on warm oil than cold oil. If it dries before effecting oil, just hit it with SG again. Do you really care how much it takes to get your engine clean. Once it appears that all oil is dissolved I rinse it with a fine mist of water. Use Enough Simple Green and you will have a perfect engine.
I give the painted under the hood / bonnet section the extra care of drying with a towel but that about it.
Note, I said stock M-100. I once did this with a 6.3 with a Crane ignition and it wouldn't start for 24 hours. Just be careful with SG and water around electronic junk if your M-100 has been altered. Stock 6.3s have never given us a problem and we wash the engines every time we wash the exterior.
